GASTRONOMY

Amongst the numerous dishes of the Antequerian rich and varied cuisine, the better known are; "porra antequerana", "migas", kid at the pastoral style" and "gazpacho" and the most famous desserts are "bienmesabe", "angelorum" and figs with nuts", not to mention the exquisite "mantecados", "polvorones" and "alfajores" indispensable on the Christmas tables.

The "gazpacho", is a typical andalusian dish and can be found everywhere, not only in Andalucia, but in the whole Spain. Its origin is difficult to establish, while some gourmets said it is of Arab origin, others insist on its Semitic root, due to the mention in the Bible of a certain patriarchal dish made with oil and vinegar. Amongst its countless variants, the "porra antequerana" is one of the most assessed and better known.
