MANILVA

This traditional small town built on a hilltop overlooking the Coast was part of the municipality of Casares until 1797.

Fishing and agriculture have been the main occupations of its inhabitants throughout its history, and the grapes from the vines covering the hill slopes are justly famous for the delicious wine made from them.

Tourism has steadily developed, so that the town is now surrounded by residential developments, La Duquesa Golf Club, a yacht harbour, and fantastic project as the residential-sport - complex Magic Hills, and it is now a significant tourist destination.

Its cuisine is mainly based on the great variety of fish available whilst its tomato soup is justly famous.

"La Duquesa Castle" in the nearby Sabinillas was built to defend the town from pirates, who for centuries ravaged the coastal area.
