Alhaurín el Grande has many attractiveness, being the most peculiar the special language they use, unique in the whole region. The councillor of Culture of Alhaurin Town Hall, Mr. Juan Castillo Benítez, has gathered all the words in his book "Historia de la Villa de Alhaurín el Grande".

Besides the numerous restaurants mentioned in the gastronomy chapter, Alhaurín el Grande has many bars where to taste the typical "tapas" -snacks the spaniards used to eat with a cup of wine or beer-, which so deliciously are prepared in this town.

Alhaurin has an interesting offer for sport lovers, Municipal Sport Fields, golf courses, mountain bike and is a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers.

The handicrafters of Alhaurin are real specialist in the hand and machine embroidery and needleworks, the manufacture of wooden kitchen utensils, esparto grass shoes and wrought iron works.

The folklore in Alhaurín is represented by the flamenco songs, "fandango from Alhaurin", the "mulliores" and the "pastorales". The "mulliores" is perhaps one of the deepest root of the Alhaurin folklore. Its origin comes from the antique custom of a brotherhood whose main object was to sing the Saint Rosary on the daybreaks of October. The "pastorales" are the typical Christmas Chorus which now are not so popular as they used to be.
