Located in the Malaga vale "Hoya de Málaga" it was founded by the Arabs in the year 929 and named Hisn Dzacuan, although later on it was known as "Al Cohine" (pleasant paradise). Its striking castle was the bulwark and frontier against the fortresses that the sons of Omar Ben Hafsun, the Arab king who up rose against the caliphate of Abderraman III. Ben Bathuta and other Arabs write of the epoch, said that Dazcuan was a beautiful castle with many trees and springs.

The Episcopal Palace, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Andrew churches and the hermitage of Virgen de La Fuensanta, patron Saint of the town, all of them built between the XV and XVI century are worthy of a visit.
