VALDERRAMA GOLF CLUB

Valderrama, a magic name in the golfing world, is now one of Andalusia's leading tourist venues.

Located 92 kms from Malaga international airport and only 15 kms. from Gibraltar, this outstanding course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, with Hole 17 redesigned by Seve Ballesteros, and is skillfull and challenging combination of fairways, nearly 100 bunkers and raised putting greens. Golfing journalist have twice given this course the award of best golf course in Europe.

The Volvo Master tournament has been held here annually since 1988, bringing together the world's leading professional golfers.

Its chairman, Jaime Ortiz Patiņo has succeeded in making the course the site of the 1997 Ryder Cup, an achivement which will bring extraordinary prestige to the club, to the Costa del Sol and to Andalusia.

Under the management of Michael Lovett, its well-appointed Clubhouse include a pro shop, bar, restaurant, and the golfing museum.

The 4th. hole, a par 5, ends on a raised green by the side of which plunges a spectacular cascade of water on its way to the greenside lake. There are trees everywhere. The colossal oak in the middle of the second fairway is fantastic. The club professional is Juan Zumaquero, and carts, clubs and buggies can be hired.
