All along the coast, in one or another way, the fish is the king of the cuisine. Fried is the most popular way
to eat fish in this zone, but that of course is not the only way to appreciate the Mediterranean delicacies. Roasted on an open fire, on the sea side, the sardines (espetos) are really delicious; baked in the oven with garlic and species, the turbot or big red mullet;
grilled, the swordfish or angler-fish and boiled the shrimps, Norway-lobsters and the rest of the shellfish.
Don't forget to try the special grilled tomato and pimentos salad, a malagueñan speciality, if possible with "chanquetes" a very small white fish unique in this coast, but unfortunately
very difficult to find.
There are very good fish stews at the "fishermen style", and of course you can enjoy meats, paella and many other regional, Spanish and international dishes.
If you fancy the fish you have just come to the right place. Fish (Pescaito), is undoubtedly the star in the malagueñan cuisine.
Among the soups, very popular in Malaga, besides the shellfish soup, which is absolutely
unique, the "gazpacho" (cold vegetable soup) and the "ajo blanco" (cold almond and garlic soup), are the most requested.
