He was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, on 11th. February 1906 and since very young he shows an innate suitability for paint, art to which he devoted during his childhood and adolescence learning the rudiments of it in an absolute self-taught way.
Due to his disagreement and unsettled mind he left his country searching the way to improve and perfect his skillfulness.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in 1929 he came to Spain for the first time to study in the Academy of Fine Arts of San Ferdinand, alternating his study with his work as a draughts man for the publishing Hermanos Calleja, sketching tales for children, novels and books of history.

In 1931 he performed in Paris an exposition of his prints with such success that he decided to exhibit his work at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

In 1933 he took upon a very important decision which marked him for the rest of his life. He left Spain to join the Bolivian army as graphic reporter during the war of "el Chaco", Bolivia versus Paraguay.

On his returned to Spain, between 1934 and 1936, he becamea very well known and valued artist and up to his death in Madrid, 17th. February 1969, he painted tireless leaving a valuable legate distributed all over the world.

 He was decorated with high frequency and amongst his medals and honours, he is Knight of the Order of the Queen Elizabeth the Catholic, Cisneros and Alphonse X the Wiseman , he was also awarded the silver medal of the Sudamerican Arts Biennial Exposition , for his paints "IDILIO" and "EN LA HOGUERA".
