TRADITIONAL CELEBRATIONS

The Pedro Romero celebration in September is one of the most important events in the city's cultural calendar and a very typical show of the Andalusia rich traditions.

Citizens and visitors throng its brightly decorated streets and squares, many women wearing the typical flounced gypsy dresses and men in mountain gear, giving a special magic to the vibrant ambiance of the celebration.

Restaurants and "tapa" bars overflow with clients whose friendliness and hospitality soon make visitors feel at home.

Ronda's noble history permeates the atmosphere, enhanced by the unique Goyesca bullfight, in which all participants in the fight, and many of the audience, wear early 19th century costumes.

Ronda's Holy Week is steeped in tradition, a moment of great solemnity and reverence for its inhabitants and many visitors. If the carved wooden images of saints carried in procession through its streets may be less spectacular than those in other cities, many are true works of art.
