This course was opened in March '98 and is the latest jewel in Andalucia's already glittering golfing crown.
Designed by Dave Thomas, Almenara is located slightly inland from Valderrama and from its lofty perch overlooks both the Ryder Cup host club and the nearby The San Roque Club.
The layouts has two clearly defined sections, the first part through the wooded terrain so typical of the Sotogrande area and the second through more open scenery including a spectacular lake.
Owned by Sotogrande S.A., Almenara has opened its own
150-room hotel and an extensive clubhouse complex.
A further nine holes are due to open in 2001.
